Porträt der Woche: Tanya Devichenskay

Name Hallo zusammen, mein Name ist Tanya Devichenskay, aber meistens zeichne ich unter dem Namen gdetanya.

Location Ich bin in der Ukraine geboren, in dem kleinen Städtchen Zhytomyr. Im Moment aber lebe und arbeite ich als freie Illustratorin und als Artist in Dresden.

Start Ich zeichne solange ich zurückdenken kann, also seit meiner frühsten Kindheit. Später habe ich dann doe Grundlagen der Malerei an einer Kunstschule erlernt und 2015 schließlich meinen Abschluss an der Hochschule für Kultur und Kunst in Zhitomyr gemacht, wo ich verschiedene Techniken wie Zeichnen, Modellieren, Gravieren, Malen usw. studierte.
Nach dem Abschluss des Studiums habe ich meine Fähigkeiten im traditionellen Zeichnen weiter vertieft und 2017 einen Grafikdesign-Kurs an der Schule für visuelle Kommunikation in Kiew belegt. Doch schnell habe ich bemerkt, dass ich einfach zu gerne mit Illustrationen experimentiere und im Grafikdesign nicht glücklich würde.
2018 stieg ich dann ins Digitale ein und lernte, auf einem Tablet zu zeichnen. Das war für mich etwas ungewohnt und trocken, ich habe die Farbe und die Striche nicht gespürt. Dennoch gefällt es mir sehr, Vektor- und Rastergrafiken zu beherrschen und es inspiriert mich, mir unbekannte Techniken anzueignen.
Seit 2020 zeichne ich auch für animierte Erklärvideos und arbeitete mit einem befreundeten Animationsdesigner zusammen. Seither konnten wir Mini-Trickfilme für verschiedene Unternehmen und Kunden erstellen und ich lerne beständig, flexibel zu sein, meine Fehler und Misserfolge zu akzeptieren und mich in verschiedenen Techniken weiterzuentwickeln und sie miteinander zu kombinieren.

Stil Diese Frage versetzt mich immer in eine Art Stupor))) Ich liebe verzerrte Proportionen, Farbkombinationen, leicht unterschiedliche Texturen und surreale Geschichten. Vielleicht werde das alles in Zukunft besser auflisten können, aber im Moment ist es für mich vor allem spielerisch.

Lieblingsmotive Grundsätzlich mag ich das Chaos und die Verzerrung der menschlichen Proportionen. Ich mixe gerne Dinge zusammen und spiele mit komplexen Farbschemata. Ich liebe es, verschiedene surreale Hintergründe, verzerrte Elemente, falsche Perspektiven und »noise« zu verwenden.

Technik Ich mische gerne Öl mit Pastell, Aquarell mit trockenen Materialien und Tusche zum Skizzieren.
Bei digitalen Illustrationen mixe ich Illustrator mit Photoshop, um feine Texturen auf grobe Formen zu legen.

Inspiration Meinstens inspirieren mich die einfachsten Dinge. Ich mag es, Silhouetten aufzuspüren, ob das Figuren in seltsamen Schmutzflecken oder Regentropfen ist, Wolken und ähnliches. Menschen und ihr Charakter inspirieren mich, Träume und die surrealen Geschichten, die sie erzählen und auch die Ästhetik der Antike.

Kunden Ich arbeite mit verschiedenen Auftraggebern und Studios zusammen, illustriere, gestalte Plakate und Erklärvideos (so wie das für die UNO Flüchtlingshilfe, das wir auf PAGE online bereits vorgestellt haben)

Start I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, so since my early childhood. Later I went to art school to get the basics and learn painting. In 2015, I graduated from the College of Culture and Arts in Zhitomyr, where I continued my studies as an artist and studied various areas such as drawing, modeling, engraving, painting, etc.
After graduation, I continued to master and strengthen my skills in traditional drawing.
In 2017, I took a course at the School of Visual Communications in Kyiv as a graphic designer. But then I realized that my inner child who loves to experiment with illustration cannot be broken into graphic design.
In 2018, I decided to translate all my knowledge into digital art and learned to draw on a tablet. It was a little unusual and dry for me, I did not feel the paint and strokes, so I could not understand the very essence.
I mastered vector and raster graphics, and I really liked it. Trying to overcome some unknown techniques and enjoy the process is my inspiration
Since 2020, I wanted to try to bring my illustrations to life and started drawing to animated explainer videos. I worked in tandem with my motion designer boyfriend, first in the studio and then as a freelancer. Since then I have discovered animation design and how I can get in touch with the motion world. Thanks to my boyfriend, together we can create mini cartoons for different companies and clients and now I’m still learning to be flexible accept my mistakes and failures and develop further in different techniques and combine them together

Style In fact, this question always puts me in a stupor))) I love my style of distorted proportions, color combinations, slightly different textures and surreal stories.
Perhaps I will come to some kind of table of contents in the future, but for now for me this is all within the game

Favourite motifs Basically I really like chaos and distortion of human proportions. I really enjoy mixing and playing with many complex color schemes, I love using different surreal backgrounds, distorted elements, wrong perspectives and noise.

Technique I like to mix oil with pastel, watercolor with dry materials, and ink for sketching.
In digital illustrations and I mix Illustrator with Photoshop in order to layer delicate textures on rough shapes

Inspiration For the most part, the simplest things inspire me. I like to find silhouettes of differentэ elements (characters, in strange dirt spots or raindrops, clouds, etc.)
People inspire me, I find a certain character in them and save them for future illustrations.The plots from the books suggest their formation of characters and locations.
Dreams inspire me with their surreal stories that I try to save for future sketches. I love the aesthetics of antiquity, and I am inspired by various objects of ancient culture.
